CHARLES KHOURY
Charles Khoury, born in Beirut in 1966, is celebrated for his vibrant, animated artworks blending abstracted figures with vivid canvases. Evolving from abstract to cubist-style figurative pieces, he infuses playful, sometimes absurdist, spirits into his works, often depicting animals and botanical shapes.
His sculptures, featuring precise geometric forms and bold primary colors, exhibit a similar lively style. Khoury has participated in numerous global exhibitions and esteemed art fairs, receiving the Special Jury Award at the 2008 Nicolas Sursock Museum’s Salon d’Automne, Beirut. Influenced by war, his artworks reflect nature’s constituents through vibrant, sometimes aggressive colors.
Known for his primary color palette, Khoury’s work delves into a universe of interiors, blending Modernist legacy with innovative practices, creating composite environments where shape, color, and structure intertwine. His sculptures marry precise mathematical procedures with irreverent monumentality, inscribing bodies into abstract space with gravity and grace.
