EV Edison Unveils East Coast’s Largest EV Charging Hub

Dame Zaha Hadid, the world-renowned architect and recipient of the TAKREEM Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016, is being honored through the establishment of the Zaha Hadid Scholars Program at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Launched by the London-based Zaha Hadid Foundation, this initiative celebrates Hadid’s legacy as an educator, visionary, and advocate for aspiring architects. Starting in September 2025, the program will fully fund and provide additional support to two architecture students per year for the full five years of their undergraduate studies at AUB’s Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Students will be selected based on both academic merit and financial need. This opportunity will continue for each of the next three academic years. “The visionary work of our alumna, Zaha Hadid, continues to inspire current generations of students,” said AUB President Fadlo Khuri, MD. “We are proud to partner with the Zaha Hadid Foundation on this initiative to benefit bright and deserving architecture students at our university.” The Board of Trustees of the Zaha Hadid Foundation added: “We are thrilled to honor Zaha’s commitment to emerging architectural talent by supporting students at AUB, a university that was so close to Zaha’s heart. We hope this marks the beginning of a deeper collaboration.” Zaha Hadid studied mathematics at AUB from 1968 to 1969 and received an Honorary Doctorate in 2006. Her architectural contribution to the campus includes the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs Building, completed in 2014. The Zaha Hadid Foundation, established by Hadid in 2013 and fully operational since 2022, is dedicated to preserving her body of work and advancing education in architecture, design, and the arts. In addition to its partnership with AUB, the Foundation is collaborating with institutions such as the Architectural Association and Serpentine Galleries, with further programs soon to be announced. Dame Zaha Hadid’s groundbreaking vision and legacy, recognized by TAKREEM and celebrated worldwide, continue to inspire and empower future generations.
