Patrick Chalhoub

Lifetime Achievement Award – 2026

For more than seven decades, the Chalhoub Group has been a defining force in the luxury retail and distribution landscape of the Middle East, building bridges between some of the world’s most prestigious maisons and a region undergoing extraordinary cultural and economic transformation.
The story began in Damascus in 1955, when his parents, Michel and Widad Chalhoub, opened their first luxury boutique. As political and economic circumstances changed, the family moved its activities first to Beirut, then to Kuwait, and eventually to Dubai. Each move required resilience and reinvention, qualities that would become deeply embedded in the Group’s identity.
Patrick Chalhoub joined the family business in 1979 and, over the following decades, played a central role in its expansion across the Middle East. Under his leadership, the Group developed enduring partnerships with many of the world’s most prestigious names in luxury, beauty, fashion, and art de vivre, while creating its own retail concepts and developing an intimate understanding of the region and its consumers.
His leadership coincided with a profound transformation of the luxury industry. As new generations of consumers emerged and technology reshaped the relationship between brands and their audiences, Chalhoub championed digitalization, innovation, and new retail experiences while maintaining a distinctly human approach to business. Today, the Group brings together more than 16,000 professionals and hundreds of international brands across the region.
Patrick Chalhoub has consistently placed people and responsibility at the center of his leadership. Education, talent development, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and community engagement have become important pillars of the Group’s wider contribution. Through initiatives such as the Chalhoub Retail Academy, Chalhoub Impact, and the Greenhouse innovation hub, the Group has invested in developing skills, supporting entrepreneurs, and nurturing the next generation.
In 2018, he was appointed to the Board of the United Nations Global Compact, reinforcing a longstanding commitment to sustainability, ethical business practices, and positive social impact.
In January 2025, Patrick Chalhoub entered a new chapter as Executive Chairman, passing the role of Chief Executive Officer to his son Michael. The transition marked another generation in a family story built over seventy years, one defined not simply by continuity, but by the ability to evolve.
