Dr. Nahla Hwalla is an internationally acclaimed dietician focused on obesity and its challenges, with over 100 seminal academic papers published. She is currently a Professor of Human Nutrition and a Registered Dietician with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, USA, and has served as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB).

Dr. Hwalla is widely recognized in Lebanon and the Middle East for pioneering nutrition as a national and regional priority. She has served on various international expert committees and was appointed to the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Nutrition by the Director General of WHO. She also directs the Lebanon World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Nutrition.

Hwalla has been instrumental in establishing Dietetics and Nutrition as a respected and protected profession. She has built and promoted a program that has received international commendation, ensuring nutrition remains central to public health agendas.
