Banderi A.R. AlFaisal
Lifetime Achievement – 2019
Her Royal Highness, Princess Banderi, was a transformative leader in Saudi Arabia’s philanthropic and civil society sectors, with over two decades of work dedicated to social and economic development. As CEO of the King Khalid Foundation (KKF), she led the organization toward strategic philanthropy, fostering partnerships across business, government, and philanthropic communities to drive impactful change. Her leadership in KKF shaped policies on poverty reduction, anti-domestic violence, and social protection, including contributions to the Vision2030 National Transformation Program, which led to the establishment of the National Centre for Non-Profit Sector Development.
Under Princess Banderi’s guidance, KKF improved the capabilities of numerous non-profit organizations, introduced equal opportunity grants supporting employment and social entrepreneurship, and launched Saudi Arabia’s first Sustainability Award for the private sector in 2008. KKF also collaborated with global entities like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Columbia Business School to advance its mission.
Nationally, Princess Banderi served on the Social Protection Intergovernmental Working Group and held roles in organizations like AlNahda Society for Women, Saut (Voice of Down Syndrome Society), and the Saudi ADHD Society. Internationally, she engaged in policy discussions, representing Saudi Arabia at the 2018 UN Sustainable Development Goals High-Level Political Forum and the 62nd Commission on the Status of Women. A Harvard Kennedy School alumna with a Master’s in Public Policy, she was a sought-after speaker on global development issues, leaving a lasting legacy of social change and advocacy.
