
CARL BISTANY - LEBANON
Carl Bistany is a board member and the president of SABIS®, an international education network founded in 1886 in Choueifat, Lebanon. Under his leadership, SABIS® has grown into a globally recognized network that manages Pre-K/K-12 schools across over 20 countries, employing over 9,000 professionals. Bistany’s vision and leadership have been pivotal in transforming the family-owned company into a professionally managed, multinational organization dedicated to advancing education. Prior to SABIS®, Bistany established one of the largest IT companies in the U.A.E.
He has held several prominent positions, including serving as the 2017 International President of the Chief Executives’ Organization (CEO) and as a senior member on the Executive Board of the Institute for Social and Economic Policy in the Middle East at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He was also part of the World Bank Advisory Group on Private Sector engagement.
A co-author of Last Bell: Breaking the Gridlock in Education Reform, Bistany is a respected voice in educational innovation and reform. He holds master’s degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from Syracuse University and is a Harvard Business School alumnus, completing the Owner/President Management program. In 2021, he was awarded a Doctor of Science honoris causa by the University of Buckingham for his contributions to global education, underscoring his commitment to creating accessible education systems worldwide.
