WOMEN'S PROGRAM ASSOCIATION - LEBANON
The Women’s Programs Association (WPA) is a non-profit NGO in Lebanon, registered with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities since 2008, focused on empowering women and youth to build equal rights and community involvement. WPA operates across eight camps in Lebanon with a team of over 100, offering programs in four core areas: Livelihood, Protection, Education, and Social Stability. Through Livelihood programs, WPA provides credit lending for business and consumer loans, job opportunities in its production units, including Soufra and food processing centers. Protection initiatives offer awareness on gender, gender-based violence, healthy childhood, and parenting, as well as psycho-social support via listening centers. Education programs equip youth with skills for employment, provide support for school leavers, and offer early childhood activities. The Social Stability program promotes social cohesion and integration.
WPA has established 11 women’s committees in nine camps and developed a micro-loan program that has helped women start family businesses and support essential needs. In 2020, WPA mobilized resources to assist refugee communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Supported by a wide network of donors—including UN agencies like UNRWA and ILO, international organizations like ANERA and GIZ, and local groups—WPA continues to foster community resilience and opportunity for women and youth across Lebanon.
