Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak re-elected as President of IUCN
Her Excellency Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak — TAKREEM Laureate for Sustainability and Environmental Leadership 2022, has been re-elected for a second term as President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) during the World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi. The first president from West Asia and only the second woman to lead IUCN in its 77-year history, Al Mubarak will continue guiding the world’s largest environmental network through this decisive decade for nature, climate, and biodiversity. Throughout her first term, she strengthened governance, renewed global trust, and elevated nature’s role within international climate agendas. Her re-election reaffirms the confidence of IUCN’s 1,400 member organizations across 160 countries in her leadership and vision.
