KHALED AL SABAWI - PALESTINE
Khaled Al Sabawi, a Canadian-Palestinian engineer, is the founder and president of MENA Geothermal and the TABO Initiative. In 2007, as president of MENA Geothermal, Al Sabawi installed the first geothermal systems in Palestine, marking a regional milestone in green energy. MENA Geothermal later connected the largest geothermal system in the Middle East at the American University in Madaba, Jordan, earning the National Energy Globe Award in both 2008 and 2011.
In 2010, Al Sabawi became General Manager of Union Construction and Investment Corporation (UCI), one of the largest real-estate developers in Palestine and MENA Geothermal’s parent company. At UCI, he founded the TABO initiative, which focuses on securing property rights in Palestine by issuing title deeds and registering residential land in the West Bank. TABO offers Palestinians worldwide an opportunity to own affordable land in Palestine, aiming to curb illegal annexation and settlement expansion.
A prominent speaker, Al Sabawi has presented at TEDx Ramallah and lectured at McGill University, Harvard University, and MIT. Born to Palestinian refugees from Gaza, Al Sabawi graduated in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada in 2006, later becoming the first certified Geothermal Engineer in the Middle East. Named “One of the World’s Top Energy Entrepreneurs” by Global Post in 2010, he was also ranked among Arabian Business Magazine’s Top 500 Most Influential Arabs in 2012.
