SESOBEL - LEBANON
SESOBEL, founded by Yvonne Chami over 35 years ago, is a mission of love dedicated to supporting children with disabilities in Lebanon. This nonprofit organization provides specialized services to children with mental and physical disabilities and autism, while supporting their families and advocating for inclusion and awareness in society. Initially established to address the neglect and marginalization faced by disabled children, SESOBEL has grown into a beacon of hope and support.
Each year, a multidisciplinary team of 200 professionals offers comprehensive care, including medical, rehabilitation, special education, and management services to over 450 children, 80% of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Supported by a vast network of 5,000 friends and professionals from Lebanon and abroad, SESOBEL has developed cutting-edge programs and approaches, incorporating state-of-the-art technology, research, and specialized training.
SESOBEL’s impact has fostered significant societal change in Lebanon, raising awareness about disability, promoting acceptance, and inspiring the creation of institutional frameworks. As a result, disability now holds a place within government responsibilities, and new paramedical and specialized university degrees have been introduced. With its unwavering commitment to dignity, respect, and inclusion, SESOBEL has become a leading force for disability advocacy and support in Lebanon and the region, transforming thousands of lives with its dedication to love and service.
