
HILAL LASHUEL - YEMEN
Prof. Hilal A. Lashuel is the Research Development and Innovation Advisor to the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation and Executive Director of RDI at the Chairperson’s Office. He is also an Associate Professor at EPFL, where he leads the Laboratory of Molecular and Chemical Biology of Neurodegeneration. His research focuses on protein misfolding and aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases, aiming to develop novel diagnostics and therapies. He earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the City University of New York and completed his Ph.D. at Texas A&M University and the Scripps Research Institute. He pursued postdoctoral training at the Picower Institute, Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has held visiting roles at Stanford University and served in leadership positions at Qatar Biomedical Research Institute and Qatar Biobank. Prof. Lashuel is the founder and CEO of ND BioSciences SA and serves as associate editor of npj Parkinson’s Disease. He sits on several scientific advisory boards and has published over 225 papers, holds nine patents, and has delivered more than 250 invited lectures. His work has earned over 29,000 citations (h-index 92) and has been recognized with the Kuwait Prize and selection as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
